Christina Aguilera’s National Anthem Evolution
Christina Aguilera‘s numerous televised performances of the national anthem prove one thing: The better you are at singing, the more you have to sing.
The NFL announced on Monday that Christina’s next sporting event gig will be Super Bowl XLV, where she will sing “The Star-Spangled Banner” yet again, (sort of) opening for the Black Eyed Peas, who will play at halftime.
In a statement issued by the NFL, the 30-year-old singer said,
“I have been performing the Anthem since I was seven years old, and I must say the Super Bowl is a dream come true. I am really excited to be part of such an iconic event.”
Christina’s own vocal style has evolved over the years, meaning that no two of her “Banners” are the same. Couple that with her tendency to get imaginative with the song’s melody and it’s anyone’s guess what exactly is in store on February 6.
